Yes, it is the night of the Academy Awards. A time for glitz and glamor. A time to celebrate the talents of screenwriters, actors, actresses, directors, and so many more. The movies entertain us. They takes us to places we may never visit. They reveal new perspectives and dreams. They have a way of lifting us up or causing us to become perplexed, full of grief and disbelief. All that are involved are sharing their gifts to the world!
As I watch, I’m thinking of who my Oscar would go to — if I had one to present. Currently there are many project I’ve involved in that are near to my heart, but one does stand out! In the category of innovation and new learning I’d like to present my Oscar to 110 5th graders, their 4 teachers, and the paraprofessionals that assist in the classroom. Together, this group has simply amazed me with their passion for new learning, their dedication to innovation, their welcoming spirit allowing me to go on the journey with them and their desire to make the world a better place through their own contributions! Just as the movies, I’m filled with so many emotions as I read their posts. Some are written to entertain. Some are to help deepen the reader’s (or their own) understanding of a particular concept. Some bring joy while others bring sadness. Blogging is giving this group of children a way to reveal their thoughts. They are receiving comments from around the world. They are finding their voice and making a difference. I’ve witness the “unenthusiastic” become passionate about the project. I’ve admired the technology skills of many and appreciate them stepping up to assist their fellow classmates! I look forward to each opportunity to meet with these classes. I know I’m going to learn something new from the students and the caring adults that are there to facilitate learning and build positive, supportive relationships with their students.
“Films and life are like clay, waiting for us to mold it. And when you trust your own insides and that becomes achievement, it’s a kind of principle that seems to me is at work with everyone. God bless that principle. God bless that potential that we all have for making anything possible if we think we deserve it.”

and the Oscar for Most Influential Professional Development for Robin Phares goes to …….. her Twitter PLN.
The power and the potential of my PLN through twitter to enhance my professional life continues to amaze me. My father always told me “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” That statement really comes to life with my twitter pln. If I have a question, I post it and I can be assured the answer will appear.
I would love to host a big, glamorous party for all of my twitter friends. I would treat them to a fancy dinner complete with steak and lobster. The only problem is we would all have to wear @ around our necks.
